In 1980 audi unveiled the heralded quattro, a turbopowered fourwheel-drive coupe that compiled a tremendous rallying record. A logical extension of this vehicle was the larger audi 200 turbo quattro sedan and station wagon, introduced in 1985. This model was known in the United States as the 5000s or 5000cs turbo quattro until 1989, when the european numbering was adopted.
